Metadata: 2012-2013, HiDef, First Flight Wind, High Resolution Bird and Marine Mammal Video Survey
Abstract:
HiDef have been contracted by First Flight Wind Ltd to undertake high definition aerial surveys of the Northern Ireland WRZ on a monthly basis between December 2012 and December 2013 on a call off basis, as required by the customer. This report summarises the elements of this task that have been undertaken in support of the June 2013 survey.

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Images that have been marked as requiring further analysis by HiDef are be passed to specialist ornithologists who have received training in the analysis of high definition video imagery. The ornithologists then identify the images and return the results. As part of this process, a quality check of twenty percent of the data is carried out to ensure that less than ten percent disagreement is achieved between the ornithologists. For this quality check, a second review of 20% of the data is carried out blind to the first review. The output of these results are then compared and any discrepancies reviewed by trained ornithologists. In the case of any significant discrepancies, the images are re-reviewed by a third ornithologist who acts as an adjudicator in the process to make a decision on the correct observations. A detailed flowchart of this process is presented in Appendix 1. |
