Metadata: 2005, Anatec Ltd, Gwynt Y Mor Offshore Wind Farm, Maritime Traffic Survey
Abstract:
This project presents analysis of 28 days of survey data, collected during two 14 day periods from 7-21 December 2004 and 11-25 March 2005. The data was collected using radar, AIS and visual observations. A further 5 days of survey data was collected between 22-27 July 2005, as recommended in the report A1312-np-TS-2. This was scheduled to cover a summer period overlapping with a weekend in July to capture recreational vessel activity at or near its peak.

| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2005, Anatec Ltd, Gwynt Y Mor Offshore Wind Farm, Maritime Traffic Survey |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 41006e1e-4c54-4148-9b27-3549a2e2fb59 |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | TCE-589 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2004-12-07 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2005-07-27 |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |
| Abstract | The abstract provides a clear and brief statement of the content of the resource. | This project presents analysis of 28 days of survey data, collected during two 14 day periods from 7-21 December 2004 and 11-25 March 2005. | Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | The survey was conducted 24 hours per day. The radar was manned between approximately 0600 and 2200, with all targets acquired manually. During the manned period a visual lookout was maintained during daylight hours and observations were summarised in the logbook. Between 2200 and 0600 (approximately) radar targets were acquired automatically by defining an automatic acquisition zone covering the project area and immediate surroundings. The AIS system tracked targets 24 hours per day during the entire survey period. For the majority of time the radar display range scale was set to 24nm which facilitated the tracking of all targets in the vicinity of the project area. The radar range varied based on conditions and target details but typically vessels were tracked up to 20nm from the survey location and some targets up to 32nm. The AIS system automatically tracked all targets within range, which again varied depending on conditions, but was typically 24nm to 36nm and in some cases beyond 100nm. |
