Metadata: 2007-2012, ECON/RPS, Lynn and Inner Dowsing, Boat-based Ornithological Surveys
Abstract:
The Lynn and Inner Dowsing (hereafter LID) wind farms are each comprised of 27 wind turbines (54 in total) that were installed between April 2007 and the end of July 2008. All turbines were fully operational by March 2009. The Food and Environmental Protection Act (FEPA) 1985 Licences for the LID projects specified three main objectives in relation to ornithological monitoring: 1. Assess changes in usage of area by feeding birds and birds on passage; 2. Assess collision risk prior to construction of the wind farms and investigate techniques/methodologies for collecting data on actual collisions during and post construction; and 3. Survey benthos to inform reasons for possible changes in bird distribution and density on site. Boat-based bird surveys were undertaken between 2007 and 2012 to fulfil the objective 1 monitoring requirements during the construction and post-construction periods. The reports and datasets provided within this series cover these surveys.
