Metadata: 2011, RPS, Lincs, Variation in Soil Shear Strength with Depth
Abstract:
RPS Energy (RPSE) have been contracted by Centrica Renewable Energy Limited (CREL) to determine the depth to which shallow soils (less than approximately 5m) with specific shear strengths are found throughout the Lincs Wind Farm Site. This information will help CREL in determining the most efficient method for trenching given the soil conditions. This technical note has been carried out based on boreholes and CPT’s from the main Lincs Site investigation. It should be noted that if analysis of turbine locations LS70 – LS75 is required then this can be carried out, assuming that RPSE is provided with the appropriate borehole / CPT data.

| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2011, RPS, Lincs, Variation in Soil Shear Strength with Depth |
| Alternative title | The purpose of alternative title is to record any additional names by which the dataset may be known. | Variation in Soil Shear Strength with Depth |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 72b308dd-934f-4319-af9c-af5e7856c96e |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | TCE-933 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2011-10-05 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2011-10-27 |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | The Following Memorandum has been constructed by RPS Energy to provide additional information to Centrica Renewable Energy Limited regarding the interpreted shear strength of shallow soils across the Lincs Wind Farm Site. Shear strengths have been extrapolated from turbine specific site investigation boreholes and to provide information on the potential ground conditions along proposed cable routes. A table has been constructed to show: 1. The thickness of Holocene seabed sediments interpreted along cable routes 2. The minimum and maximum shear strength of clay material within the upper 0.5m along cable routes 3. The minimum and maximum shear strength of clay material between 0.5m and 1m along cable routes 4. The minimum and maximum shear strength of clay material within the upper 2.5m along cable routes 5. The depth of chalk material if this is found within the upper 1m along cable routes This Memorandum should be viewed in conjunction with, and as part of RPS Energy Technical Note (EOG0659-TN-04-04) entitled “Lincs Wind Farm: Variation in Soil Shear Strength with Depth”. Service constraints remain unaltered. |
