Abstract:
Bibby HydroMap were commissioned in September 2015 by EDF Energy Renewables to carry out geophysical and high-resolution bathymetric surveys of Teesside Offshore Wind Farm (OWF) as part of ongoing monitoring of the site. The surveys were carried out between 8th and 22nd September 2015. The main objectives of the survey were as follows: - Monitor the state of the seabed - Identify any seabed debris - Identify areas (if any) of sediment accretion or scour - Produce high resolution images of the turbine bases

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Within the windfarm area a total of 44 survey lines were run at intervals of between 30m and 40m, depending upon water depths, with a further 6 survey lines run at 15m spacing along the export cable route corridor. In addition, a further 4 lines were run per turbine (108 lines) in order to collect high resolution data. Data acquisition was undertaken from Bibby HydroMap’s own dedicated shallow draft vessel MV Lia, equipped with RESON 7125 multibeam echo sounder and Klein 3000 side scan sonar systems. Works were carried out in conjunction with other activities on the windfarm. These were primarily maintenance tasks carried out by several support vessels that were contracted to the site. Fishing vessels were also present, deploying nets at various locations within and surrounding the site. Along with traffic associated with the Tees approach channel, these represented the main navigational and operational hazards for the duration of the survey. Weather conditions were changeable during the survey period, with a north-easterly swell present within the windfarm on most survey days. |
