Metadata: 2015, EGS, Lincs, LS16 Jack-Up Clearance Survey
Abstract:
EGS International Ltd (EGSi) were contracted by Centrica Renewable Energy Limited (CREL) to undertake the 2015 post construction hydrographic and geophysical surveys of the Lincs and L & ID (Lynn and Inner Dowsing) windfarm array cable routes. The Lincs and L & ID windfarms are located in the southern North Sea, approximately 5km off the coast of Lincolnshire near Skegness. As an addition to the contracted 2015 survey work, a jack-up clearance survey was carried out in the Lincs wind farm at LS16, using Side-Scan Sonar (SSS) and Multibeam (MBES). Data used for this purpose was acquired on 1st-12th November (west of LS16) and 6th December (east of LS16). This series details the operations and results of the survey around the LS16 turbine.

| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2015, EGS, Lincs, LS16 Jack-Up Clearance Survey |
| Alternative title | The purpose of alternative title is to record any additional names by which the dataset may be known. | LS16 Jack-Up Clearance Survey |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 95c71edb-c096-4a66-95bf-1ecd14149fa5 |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | TCE-913 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2015-11-01 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2015-12-06 |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Raw bathymetric data were imported into the Caris HIPS and SIPS software, where the VORF geoid model (relative to CD) and the post-processed navigational data (SBET) were applied. Within Caris, the data were de-spiked and bathymetric surfaces were generated at a resolution of 0.1 metre. The resulting grids were exported as XYZ files and sun-illuminated bathymetric GeoTiffs. No processing of the side scan sonar data was carried out during survey activities; however, all data underwent a QC process by survey personnel on-board in conjunction with dedicated personnel in the EGSi office. This process ensured data acquired was of good quality and could be used for processing and therefore interpretation of relevant features. Raw data was sent back to the office. The CTI SonarWiz 6 software was used for the processing and interpretation of the SSS data. Minimal smoothing of the navigation information, sent from QPS QINSy in real-time, was carried out in the ZEdit module of SonarWiz. Slant range correction and Empirical Gain Normalisation were applied to ensure good presentation of the dataset after processing. |
