Metadata: 2013, CMACS, Skerries, Benthic Survey
Abstract:
CMACS Ltd was contracted to provide environmental characterisation surveys and impact assessment of the marine habitats and communities surrounding the installation of tidal power electricity generators and associated export cables at the Skerries, Anglesey as part of intertidal surveys between 1996 and 2004 that mapped the intertidal zone of the whole Welsh coast. The survey was carried out in March 2013, which is earlier than guidelines recommend but was necessary owing to the project schedule. There are anticipated consequences. The report provides the results of the survey and takes into account the late-winter timing of the survey when making comparisons to existing information

| Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 19332 |
| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2013, CMACS, Skerries, Benthic Survey |
| Alternative title | The purpose of alternative title is to record any additional names by which the dataset may be known. | Benthic Survey |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | a914cc18-8f94-40e0-903f-fd8dfc11c240 |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | TCE-2016 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2013-03-01 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2013-05-31 |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Mapping and sampling protocols followed the standard methodology described in Wyn and Brazier (2001). The intertidal survey concentrated on a 200m wide corridor (100m either side of the proposed cable route) and recorded biotopes from the high water mark to the low water mark on the day of survey (Figure 2). The survey was carried out on a spring tide to maximise the survey area. Phase 1 biotope mapping was undertaken using positions derived from a grid of 50x50m squares (Figure 2). Each point was a target where the predominant habitat and any obvious fauna will be noted, supported by hand-searching with trowel and hand-held sieve where appropriate. A hand-held GPS was used to navigate between target points and biotopes identified (if possible) with the JNCC version 04.05 biotope manual. This was assisted by reference to the biotope map of intertidal habitats of the Welsh coast created by Countryside Council for Wales in 2007 (see Section 3). |
