Metadata: 2012, Serco, Blyth NaREC Offshore Demonstration Site, MoD RADAR Mitigation
Abstract:
Serco has been formally requested by NaREC to provide a report, with a copy for the Ministry of Defence, outlining the impact that the potential development of the Blyth Offshore Demonstrator would have on UK TPS-77 # 2 located at RRH Brizlee Wood, in order that the Ministry of Defence can then decide if the mitigation solution is acceptable.

| Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 19453 |
| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2012, Serco, Blyth NaREC Offshore Demonstration Site, MoD RADAR Mitigation |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | e9104563-41d5-40bd-9b27-d05dd6b5b088 |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | TCE-95 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2012-04-13 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2012-04-13 |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |
| Abstract | The abstract provides a clear and brief statement of the content of the resource. |
| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | The location of a wind farm development in line of sight of ground-based radar will affect the ability of the radar to potentially detect a target and possibly impair the ability of the radar operator to interpret the radar terminal display information as accurately as would be deemed necessary. The family of radar of which the UK TPS-77 is a member, has an inherent resilience to wind farm clutter through its incorporation of a multi-beam design and utilisation of pulse doppler processing, however where the inherent radar performance is not considered to be satisfactory in itself for AD purposes, the use of NAIZ that apply additional target, track and background processing to a specific volume will have the effect of ensuring that display remains un-congested. There is however a finite quantity of NAIZ areas that can be enabled without the need for a re-examine the baseline processing power and capacity of the radar. This report provides information to the Developer regarding the quantity of NAIZ required to mitigate Blyth Offshore Demonstrator and the associated impact to the radar baseline performance, allowing the Ministry of Defence to decide if the proposed mitigation is acceptable, or if further analysis and tasking is required in order to make a decision. |
