Metadata: 2012-2013, Gardline and Titan, Walney Extension, Geophysical Cable Route Survey
Abstract:
Gardline Geosurvey Limited was contracted to survey the proposed Walney Extension Offshore Wind Farm Cable Route Survey, between 14-Dec-2012 and 28-Dec-2012. The geophysical data acquisition programme was carried out by M.V. Ivero, which sailed from Barrow and returned to there upon completion of survey operations. Titan Environmental Surveys Ltd were commissioned by Gardline Geosurvey to undertake the shallow water cable landfall survey, between 27-Dec-2012 and 26-Jan-2013. The survey objectives were: A) Hydrographical: To provide high quality data for interpretation of: 1. Accurate bathymetry with high resolution and low noise 2. Geomorphologic features on the seabed Geophysical: B) To provide high quality data for interpretation of: 1) Any objects at or below seabed that can influence possible offshore installations 2) Information on possible ferromagnetic objects in the area 3) Information on possible archaeological features in the area 4) Identification of geological layers

| Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 19462 |
| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2012-2013, Gardline and Titan, Walney Extension, Geophysical Cable Route Survey |
| Alternative title | The purpose of alternative title is to record any additional names by which the dataset may be known. | Geophysical Cable Route Survey |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | efa1150c-f15a-49cf-9bc2-ca0e1dbe7449 |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | TCE-2214 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2012-12-14 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2013-01-26 |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |

| Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Throughout the survey GPS quality figures were logged for each fix. These figures were processed and presented in tabulated form to enable positional verification. Sigma figures are generated for the axes of Sigma North, Sigma East and Sigma Up. Each individual sigma display was a probability estimate of how close actual position was to the GPS displayed position. Given the sigma values for a position fix, it was possible to construct an error ellipse; this was a graphical representation of the position fix, which displayed the indicated GPS position at the centre of the ellipse with the relevant sigma error ellipse centred on this position (Figure 5.1). The 1-sigma error ellipse represented the probability that a position fix was within 68% of the indicated position and the two-sigma error ellipse represented the chance of a position fix being within 86.4% of the indicated position. |
