Abstract | The abstract provides a clear and brief statement of the content of the resource. | Environmental survey to assess the baseline physico-chemical and macrofaunal conditions in the vicinity of the Elgin and Franklin developments and the screen drill cuttings piles. |
Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | Ten stations were proposed about each of the Elgin and Franklin developments, with eight stations distributed in a cruciform formation about the respective well head platform, at distances of 250 m and 750 m, and two stations positioned at the respective well platforms within the drill cuttings piles (positions determined through camera investigation). The locations of the majority of stations 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 10 at Elgin were repositioned to avoid existing infrastructure such as pipelines. At the Franklin site station 10 was repositioned west of its position in the cruciform in order to investigate an area of gravel identified from previous data. Grab samples were acquired using an ROV sampler at stations El 1, El 2, Fr 1 and Fr 2 near the well platforms, and using a Day grab at remaining stations. Underwater seabed photography was undertaken at all stations using a Kongsberg oe14-208 camera system mounted on a Hercules ROV. |
