The primary objectives of the survey were ? To provide a detailed hydrographic map of the survey area, including information on bathymetry, shallow geology, seabed features and magnetic anomalies, together with a video record of the seabed.? To identify areas of exposed bedrock and to characterise the seabed in terms of sediment/rock type and benthic habitat and epifauna. ? To use the data to identify known, unknown and potential archaeological material as part of the Marine Archaeological EIA work. High-resolution side scan sonar, swath multi-beam, single beam bathymetry, magnetometer and sub bottom profiler data were acquired along all survey lines, in order to accurately map the seabed within the survey area. Main survey lines were run at 50m spacing. In addition, a series of seabed grab samples and video footage were taken in order to ground truth the seabed classifications.
