Metadata: 2006, Centrica/AMEC/RES, Race Bank, Docking Shoal and Lincs Offshore Wind Farms, A Review of Export Cable Installation Methodology, Techniques and Tools
Abstract:
The connection of the Centrica Round 2 Offshore Wind Farms to the proposed substation at Walpole St. Peter presents a number of challenges that require a specialised and unique approach. Due to the protected status of the environment in the Wash and its sensitivity to disturbance, it is critical that the engineering methods proposed for installing the cables from the sub-tidal, through the inter-tidal and across the mudflats on to land is given due consideration. Centrica has committed to deliver sufficient detailed data for the ‘appropriate assessment’, a key part of the consenting process for this project. It is critical to the ongoing project development process that this is achieved and that the information presented at the appropriate assessment is complete. The main objective of this desk top study is to summarise the methodology and tools likely to be employed for the installation of the export cables. The methodology described is that which is thought to have the lowest environmental impact and the highest cable integrity reliability at the time of writing. The benefits of sub marine cable burial include mechanical protection of the cable and possibly reduced long term environmental and visual impacts.

| Internal code | Internally assigned metadata identifier | 4407 |
| Title | The title is used to provide a brief and precise description of the dataset such as 'Date', 'Originating organisation/programme', 'Location' and 'Type of survey'. All acronyms and abbreviations should be reproduced in full. | 2006, Centrica/AMEC/RES, Race Bank, Docking Shoal and Lincs Offshore Wind Farms, A Review of Export Cable Installation Methodology, Techniques and Tools |
| File Identifier | The File Identifier is a code, preferably a GUID, that is globally unique and remains with the same metadata record even if the record is edited or transferred between portals or tools. | 1bf2630600115b6884675f8da9dd7864 |
| Resource Identifier | This is the code assigned by the data owner. | 1181 |
| Resource type | The resource type will likely be a dataset but could also be a series (collection of datasets with a common specification) or a service. | series |
| Start date | This describes the date the resource starts. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2006 |
| End date | This describes the date the resource ends. This may only be the year if month and day are not known | 2006 |
| Spatial resolution | This describes the spatial resolution of the dataset or the spatial limitations of the service. | inapplicable |
| Frequency of updates | This describes the frequency with which the resource is modified or updated i.e. a monitoring programme that samples once per year has a frequency that is described as 'annually'. | notPlanned |
