Abstract:
Tidal Ventures Ltd (TVL) has commissioned Natural Power to carry out offshore baseline bird and marine mammal surveys in support of an application for a marine licence to the Department of the Environment Northern Ireland (DoE NI) Marine Division to develop a commercial scale tidal energy array off the north coast of County Antrim in Northern Ireland. From July 2013 to September 2014, a 15 month programme of offshore bird and marine mammal baseline surveys, together with an analysis of existing data on bottlenose dolphins, was undertaken. These surveys and analysis will underpin TVL’s application to the Department of the Environment Northern Ireland (DoE NI) Marine Division for a marine licence to develop the tidal energy array.
