Celtic Array commissioned Renewable Energy Systems Ltd (RES) in 2011 to carry out a desk review of potential landfall locations around the north coast of Anglesey and Stanah for Round 3 Irish Sea Zone grid connection[1]. From this review, 25 potential landfall locations were identified on Anglesey and of these 24 locations, 11 of the landfall locations were identified as providing the most promising solutions for a grid connection on Anglesey. A series of site visits were conducted March 2011 to verify the engineering suitability of the 11 selected landfall locations and to support the recommendations made. Lineage | Lineage includes the background information, history of the sources of data, data quality statements and methods. | For each of the potential landfall locations, a standard Site Visit Recording form was completed, The site visits were split into two components: ?Cable landing point and Beach Transition Joint Bay (BTJB) location and ?Onshore cable route. Sketch maps and photographs were taken of each location during the site visits. The site visits were limited to existing roads and tracks and any location suitably visible from such roads. No access to private land was permitted during the site visits. Due to restricted public access, it was not possible to access some bays/beaches during the site visits, therefore observations were made from the nearest accessible points only |
